John Ward, Sr. Obituary

John David Ward, Sr. (Dave), passed away peacefully at his home in Torrington, CT, at the age of 75.

Dave grew up in Raytown, MO, the only child of John and Ruth Ward.  He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his daughter Kaye of Greensboro, NC, son John David Jr. of New Hartford, CT, granddaughter Kathryn and dog Buddy.

Dave graduated from the University of MO at Rolla with a degree in civil engineering and enjoyed a successful career in the steel fabrication business, eventually becoming part owner of the firm.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hiking in national parks such as Yosemite, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. He enjoyed many summers with family and friend in Cape Cod and St. Pete’s Beach and loved wintering on Hilton Head Island.  He delighted in watching his beloved Kansas City Chiefs, especially when they were playing well.

Dave’s main hobby was rebuilding and landscaping his home, but, he also loved to garden, especially tomatoes.  He loved animals and cared for many dogs and cats over the years.
