Belinda (Gatta) Melaragno

Belinda (Gatta) Melaragno, 93, of Torrington, CT, died Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family.   She was the wife of the late Umberto Melaragno.

Belinda was born October 26, 1930, in Villa San Michele, Italy, the daughter of the late Domenicontonio and Maria (Lombardi) Melaragno.  She was employed by the Timex Corporation until her retirement.  Belinda loved to crochet, cooked the best polenta, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by four children, Giuseppe Melaragno of Torrington, CT, Antonio Melaragno of Torrington, CT, Rico Melaragno of Harwinton, CT, Lisa Lombardi of Torrington, CT; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Maria Melaragno.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Lupita and Judith, and her doctor, Dr. Frank Crociato. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28th, leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home to St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
