I worked with Robert (as I called him) for several years and recall his honor, respect and love for his family. . . and all things Italian-ha. I know he is in heaven where he has the ultimate healing and we shall join him someday.
He leaves us with his humor and encouragement and belief in the basic goodness of mankind. Robert, take care until we see you again. Linda Byrd

Unfortunately, I never met Bob Summa. I can only observe. Being born in 1935 and graduating from college is no mean feat. Getting a pharmacy degree, followed by an MBA is very impressive. Starting in the pharmacy in a hospital and ultimately becoming its president is extraordinary. He must have had amazing smarts, imagination, diligence, social skills, organizational competence and leadership qualities. How about dedication? Bob stayed with the hospital for 42 years. Who does that today? More importantly, he was married for 60 years. What a partner he must have been. Finally, I have first hand information. I don't have to observe. I know his son, Mike - - very well. I know the kind of person he is. I know the special qualities he has. I know, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. For that, Bob Summa, we all thank you.

Maryann.,
So sorry to hear about bobby. I was just visiting my brother in Vero beach in Feb. and had I known I would have looked you up. It has been too long since we've seen each other and I'm sad it took this to communicate to each other. I don't know where you live since you have moved from the hill and I don't get to Torrington very often. my phone no is (315) 668-1032. Hug your children for me.
Love Geri

Dear Maryann, Bobbie and Michael
Your Dad was a proud man husband and dad who loved you all very much.
I met you Bobbie when you were 9 years old and you Michael when you were 6.
You boys never failed him as he always liked talking about you and your different accomplishments during your growing years.
For me, he was my boss, my mentor and my dearest close friend.
He always loved to trick me, and when I realized the essence of the trick, he would
go into a fit of laughter as he watched the expression on my face.
He will certainly be missed, but he left us with a wealth of love and humor, and memories that will never fade. And to borrow a phrase, he now belongs to the ages.
Rest in peace Mr. Robert Summa.

I was so very sorry to hear about Bob. I attended school with him from first grade to the 8th grade at Riverside School in Torrington. We both went to THS, and graduated 1952. I really knew him more in grade school as we went our separate went entering THS... He was small, so smart especially in Math, intense in math, studying the problem, with a pencil in his mouth. When I found a pencil with teeth marks all over....he was his! A great kid, a beautiful person, caring, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. He will never be forgotten!

My deepest condolences for the loss of your Husband. I know it is not easy to lose a mate.
There is a beautiful hope in the bible at Jo 5:28,29 where God will remember our dead loved ones and will bring them back to life on earth so they can enjoy living forever. Ps 37:11,29.
Soon God will wipe away all tears and death and pain will be no more. Rev 21:3,4.
May you find comfort in these promises.
