Pete loved to hear all of his stories and shared many laughs with him at the Fire House. Pete truly enjoyed working under Chief Lach and has many fond memories of him. He will be missed by many. Sorry to hear about your loss. I remember as a little boy going to the fire house on water street to visit all of the firefighters with my brothers and my dad Jim " the whistler" Grohs. He knew Bernie very well, and I remember all of the brave men that served our city, including Bernie and his Brother John. May he rest in peace and the family find comfort in this time of sorrow.

Bernie was a true Christian gentleman. He was very dedicated to his family, parish, and community. I am grateful for his kindness and service in so many ways during my years of ministry in Torrington. My sincere condolences and prayers are extended to all his loved ones and friends, including all members of Sacred Heart Church, who mourn his loss.

I remember, when I was a kid, that Mr Lach as a very congenial man. I enjoyed meeting him again when we were at gluten-free meetings. I was sad to read of Bernie's passing. He did have a very full life. My heart goes out to you all.
