Steven P. Sody Jr.

Steven P. Sody, Jr., 71, of Torrington, CT, passed away, Sunday, December 3, 2017, at home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Linda (Brown) Sody.

A lifelong resident of Torrington, he was born on October 11, 1946, to Steven and Vera (Chiarito) Sody.  Steven graduated from Torrington High School where he was a very talented athlete.  His love of athletics led him to coach Little League baseball for many years.

Steven proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was drafted in 1966 during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1968.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Steven was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and retired from his career as an Insurance Claims Representative.  Even though he was weak from chemotherapy, he spent time as a volunteer driving other cancer patients to their appointments.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by his daughter, Tara Sody of Torrington; his brother, Richard Sody of Torrington; his Aunt Rose (Chiarito) Alexander; his father-in-law, Merton E. Brown of Naugatuck; his sister-in-law Sharon Barnes also of Naugatuck as well as several nieces and one grand nephew.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  There are no calling hours.
