William T. Grieco

William T. Grieco, 99, of Torrington, Ct passed away at home after a long journey of hospice care. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean (Dabkowski) Grieco and daughter Vanessa Ann Grieco. He is survived by his daughter Gail and her husband Ronald Talbot of Florida. Bill is also survived by two grandsons, Steven Talbot, of Berlin, CT, his wife Bethany and their son, his first great grandchild, and Eric Talbot of Waxahachie, Texas. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, Carol Denehy, Bob and Jean Dabkowski and Freddie and Genevieve Febbroriello.

Bill, a talented welder, worked at Torin Manufacturing for more than 30 years before retiring at age 70. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in General George Patton’s infamous 3rd Army.  Bill was a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge and proudly worked as a server for many occasions. Bill enjoyed good food and could be found most Saturday mornings having breakfast with good friend Ed Wilmot.  At times their after-breakfast rides ended with a stop at his favorite bakery. 

The family would like to give special thanks to area neighbors Carol Finn, Frank Grgach, and Carol Wing who took care of Bill as if he was a family member. They provided much love and support during his time of need. An especially big thank you to Silvia, from Polish Helping Hands, who provided 24 hour care for Bill.

Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday morning, May 16, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT. The funeral cortege will leave Cook Funeral Home at 10:30 to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded.
