Ruth M. (Falk) Franks

Ruth M. (Falk) Franks, 82, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with her family by her side.  She was the wife of the late Leonard P. Franks. 

Ruth was born February 24, 1939, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary (Perise) Falk.  She was employed by J C Penney for over 50 years, retiring in 2005.

She always took loving care of her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Ruth shared her love with everyone through greeting cards, lending a helping hand, providing a shoulder of support, or giving a hug in a moment of need. She was "Mom" and "Grandma Ruth" to so many. Through her years, Ruth loved trips to NYC and Broadway shows, the casino, the warmth of the sun, following UConn women’s basketball, bowling, shopping, and playing bingo with her pals.

Special thanks to the staff at the Smilow Cancer Center, Hartford Health Care, especially those in the Emergency Room and on the 4th floor and Crissy Shanahan, who displayed compassion and love throughout her treatment and time of need.

She is survived by three daughters, Dawn Pietrefase and her husband William of Torrington, CT, Darcy Franks of Torrington, CT, Dena Franks of Harwinton, CT: her grandchildren, Marissa, Nicholas and Brianna, Geena and Timothy as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Falk, Frederick Falk, and two sisters, Louise Bruneau and Elizabeth Persechino.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Litchfield St., Torrington.  Burial will be private.  Relatives and friends attending calling hours are reminded to follow CDC recommendations for social distancing and wearing protective face masks.
