Robert R. Jones

Robert R. Jones, 81, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021, at his home.  He was the husband of the late Linda (Cremasco) Jones.

Robert was born November 25, 1939, in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late Normand and Evelyn (Plebis) Jones.  He served his country with the U.S. Army, honorably discharged in 1967.  He was employed by the Torrington Company as a Tool Setter until his retirement.  He enjoyed former membership at the Sokol Club, the Sons of Italy, the Sullivan Senior Center, and the American Legion.  Bob coached Torrington Park and Rec men’s and women’s softball teams for many years, as well as the UAAA softball tournament team.  He was an avid women’s UConn basketball fan.

He is survived by one son, Joseph Jones (Charlene) of Cape Canaveral, FL; two daughters, Liza Finello and her husband Daniel of Torrington, CT, Charlene Gainey and her husband Ken of San Diego, CA; one brother, Bruce Jones and his wife Debbie of Florida; seven grandchildren, Bryttnee (Michael), Jessica, Robert, Racquel (Matthew), Dalton (Sadie), Cole and Elena, one great grandson, Sonny, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790.  Final military honors will be accorded at the conclusion of calling hours.  Committal will be private.
