Phyllis was born in Hartford CT, lived grew up in West Hartford, CT and graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in 1965. She attended the University of CT where she met and married David Sousa.

A few years after the birth of their sons they moved to Burlington VT, cared for her younger sister Mary, raised two rambunctious boys, and work full time as a medical transcription specialist for the University of Vermont Cardiology Department.

After moving back to CT, she attended the Morse School of Business and pursued a career in Information Technology for Aetna and Cigna Insurance until her retirement.

Phyllis’ priority was her family. She spent many hours hosting family at the beaches of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi. She provided strength, guidance, a sympathetic ear and love to her husband, sons, sisters, and brother, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed the parties she attended with a plethora of cousins. She laughed with us, cried with us, and gave us unconditional love.

Phyllis was an accomplished knitter who enjoyed the weekly sessions with the Lakeridge knitting group, where she shared knitting tips and stories. Her skills led to many mittens, hats, doll clothes and scarfs for family.

She loved everyone she knew, and they loved her. She will be greatly missed.
