Philomena "Phyllis" Hopkins Obituary

Philomena “Phyllis” M. (Cuozzo) Hopkins, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Allan A. Hopkins, Jr.

Phyllis was born July 10, 1930, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Michele and Marietta (Mastrogiovanni) Cuozzo.  She was employed by Brunswick Corporation in the Accounting Department until her retirement.

Phyllis was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church, a member of the St. Peter Holy Rosary Society, and always enjoyed being very involved within her community.  She was a volunteer for the local St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Telethon for over 20 years, she was an usher at the Warner Theatre, and a member of the Sullivan Senior Center.  Family was very important to Phyllis and she enjoyed numerous gatherings with both family and her many close friends. Phyllis was loved by all, extremely social and was blessed with a very outgoing personality.  After her husband Allan passed away, she enjoyed the company of her companion Harry Richards, and he as well as his children who were welcomed as extended family.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Hopkins and his wife Georgeann, Lawrence Hopkins and his wife Donna, both of Torrington; one grandson, Jeremy M. Hopkins, as well as two nieces and three nephews, Denise, Tony, Mark, David and Joyce Couzzo.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Cuozzo.

Private graveside services have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, Torrington, CT.   There are no calling hours.
