Linda Fedor Obituary

Linda F. Fedor, 80, of Torrington passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 19th in her home. She survived her late husband, Edward Fedor, who passed in 2016, and was mother to Laurie Otis (& husband Brad) and Stephen Fedor (& wife Wendy), and grandmother (“Mimi”) to Brett Otis (& fiancé Gillian), Alyssa Otis (& boyfriend Jimmy), Emmy Fedor, and Cassie Fedor. Linda is also survived by her siblings, David Foth (& wife Rosie) and Nancy Young, as well as nieces Donna Marcella, Kathy Campbell, and Michelle Rinaldi, and nephew, Michael Lussier.

Born November 17, 1939, in Torrington, she was the daughter of the late Hugo and Julia Kiesel Foth. After graduating from Torrington High School (1957) and Central Connecticut State University (B.S., 1961; M.S., 1970), Linda worked as an elementary school teacher for 37 years—many of which were spent educating hundreds of first-graders in her classroom at Torringford School. Many students still remember earning her hand-painted “reward rocks,” which she collected from the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard.

Upon retiring, she enjoyed spending more time with her husband and family in her summer home on the Vineyard, reading, relaxing, and visiting Menemsha to watch spectacular sunsets.

Linda was also an accomplished home cook, creating gourmet dinner parties for friends, countless family dinners and birthday parties, and elaborate holiday meals. Everything she prepared, she prepared with love. Some of her specialties included homemade ravioli and spätzle (her mom’s recipes) and Christmas cookies (complete with picture guide to navigate the variety). Linda thoroughly enjoyed discussing and sharing her culinary adventures—so much that she created her own cookbook of favorite recipes which she gifted to her family.

When she wasn’t in the kitchen or planning meals (she was a meticulous list-maker and organizer extraordinaire), Linda could be found scrapbooking, shopping the aisles of the Dollar Tree to gather materials for her next craft project, and daily crossword-puzzling to keep her mind sharp. She also enjoyed visiting friends at the Natural Wave salon every Friday to have her hair done by daughter, Laurie; bi-weekly visits to pulmonary rehab for exercise and socializing; regular chats with her grandchildren; monthly breakfast outings with her long-time friends; and Nordstrom dinners with her sister, Nancy. When she chose to dine out rather than cook, her favorites included Mario’s Tuscany Grill & Bar, and the VIP treatment she received from Chef Jimmy James at B.L.T. in New Hartford.

Throughout her life, Linda showed her love and care through both her words and actions. She and Eddie were a match made in heaven, and a dream-team of parents and grandparents. Together, they created a close-knit family that will always love them unconditionally in return.
