James A. Stolfi, 83, of Winsted, CT, peacefully passed away on May 20, 2022, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Rossi) Stolfi.
“Jimmy” was born April 16, 1939, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Anthony and Justine (Ricciardone) Stolfi. He served his country with the US Air Force, honorably discharged in October of 1960. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney, UPS and the US Postal Service as a Safety Inspector at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Amvets, enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and played guitar with bands such as Gino and the Homesteaders, Open Road and Night Moves for over fifty years.
In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by two sons, James (Jay) A. Stolfi Jr. of Burlington, CT, Marc Stolfi of Torrington, CT; one sister, Lorraine Stolfi Rovero of Southington, CT; former wife and mother, Catherine (Hirchak) Johnstone of Cheshire, CT; seven grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
