James Morro Obituary

James I. Morro, 77, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Hartford Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Marie (Sabia) Morro.

Jim was born August 19, 1943, in Portsmouth, NH, the son of the late Joseph and Joanna (Carisio) Morro.  He served his country with the U.S. Navy.  Included in the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge was the National Defense Service Medal.  An electrician by trade, he was employed by Lighting Services until his retirement.   He was a member of the Oliver Wolcott Alumni Association for over 50 years.  He enjoyed traveling, watching UCONN men’s and women’s basketball, volunteering at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by one son, James J. Morro of Stafford Springs, CT; one daughter, Paula Morro Wrafter and her husband Eoin of Poughkeepsie, NY; five grandsons, Noah, Aaron and Joel Wrafter, Devon and Lincoln Morro.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Nilsson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.   Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded.  Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning, February 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.  Relatives and friends are reminded to follow CDC recommendations for COVID prevention by social distancing and wearing protective face masks.
