Eda Ruzbasan Obituary

At 98 years old, our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Eda Theresa (DeGrandis) Ruzbasan formerly of Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT, passed away on May 3rd, 2022, at Cherry Brook Health Care Center in Canton, CT.

She is now with her handsome dancing partner and devoted husband of 74 years, Paul J. Ruzbasan.  They were inseparable and danced every chance they could at the Elks to their favorite song, “Two Hearts” by Phil Collins. Their deep love for each other was an example to all.

Eda was born in Torrington, CT in 1923, and was a lifelong Torrington resident. She was raised by her Italian immigrant father, Celeste DeGrandis of Brendola, Italy, after her mother Amelia (Tuzzo) DeGrandis passed away when Eda was only seven years old. Both of her parents will be waiting at heaven’s gates to embrace their daughter.  She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Paul J. Ruzbasan, her father, Celeste DeGrandis, five sisters: Louise Zeechin, Mary Bastasini, Esther Wocoski, Armida DeGrandis, Helen Macklosky and two Brothers, Armand and James DeGrandis.

Eda leaves behind her devoted son, Gary Ruzbasan of Meriden, and daughters, Jean (John) Eichner of Simsbury, Paula D’Andrea of Torrington, and Gail Kowalski of Torrington, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Eda was a devoted, loving mother who provided a wonderful upbringing to her children and a warm, loving home to her husband. Her children have happy memories of winter sledding with her down the hills in East Litchfield, vacations in Brigantine, her scrumptious homemade Cherry Maraschino Cake, and her great sense of humor.  Later in life, Eda enjoyed visiting the Sullivan Senior Center in Torrington and many trips with her son to Mohegan Sun Casino.

“Marty”, “Maw”, Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, you will always be in our hearts.
