Domenico Rinaldi

Domenico Rinaldi, 89, of Torrington, CT, died Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Litchfield Woods with his loving family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of Nicolina (Addona) Rinaldi for 59 years.

He was born June 4, 1930, in Pontalondolfo Benevento Italy, and a son of the late Domenico and Giuseppina (Perugini) Rinaldi.  He came to the United States in 1971.  He was employed at the Torrington Company in the Assembly Department, and later worked at Hitchcock Chair as a woodworker.  He retired from Stone Container.

He enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens, making wine and raising sheep, but he most loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Nicolina, he is survived by two daughters, Josephine Madia and her husband Domenic, Lilian Ciesco and her husband Daniel, all of Torrington; three sisters, Mary Perugini and Patricia Calabrese both of Pontalondolfo, Italy, Pasqualina Guerra of Melbourne, Australia; two grandchildren, Robert Madia and his wife Chelsea, Caitlin Madia-Cunningham and her husband Michael, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francesco Rinaldi and Angelo Rinaldi.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Litchfield Woods, who Domenic had various names for, especially one caregiver whose name was never mistaken, Cindy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.   Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.
