Arlene Adele Ascenzo

Arlene Adele Ascenzo, 64, of Torrington, CT peacefully passed away at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on May 26, 2020.  Arlene was born on April 9, 1956, in Torrington, CT, the daughter of the late Mario and Pierina (Perosino) Ascenzo. She is survived by her brother Carl and wife Kris of Gloucester, MA, sister Audrey Ascenzo of Torrington, CT, niece Eryn Ascenzo, nephew Ryan Ascenzo and wife Katie, and two grand nephews. Arlene also leaves behind Ron Diulio her best friend for many years.

Arlene was a lifelong resident of Torrington. She graduated from Torrington High School and Northwestern CT Community College. She was a member of Saint John Paul the Great Parish in Torrington, CT and took great solace in saying the rosary daily.

Despite the numerous challenges in her life she maintained a positive attitude, smiling, pleasant to everyone she met and always eager to help others in any way she could. Arlene cherished her friends and family, especially getting together at holidays.

Arlene worked for several organizations and most enjoyed her position at the Hartford Courant. She loved listening to all types of music with rock being her favorite genre. Her passion though was poetry, both reading and writing. She was an accomplished poet with some of her poems having been published and she frequently read poems on the local radio station.
