Peter Misani

Peter A. Misani of Bakerville, CT, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was the husband of the late Doris (Columbie) Misani, who preceded him in death a short few months ago.

Peter was the son of Pietro and Elvezia (Tognina) Misani, born April 5, 1929. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952 and visited various parts of the country. He was on board the U.S.S. Bronson DD868 which was in a collision off the coast of Bermuda. After being discharged, he worked at the Torin Company then the Connecticut Light & Power Company where he retired after 35 years of employment.

He loved to hunt, fish, look for mushrooms and go to turkey shoots. He was a member of the Harwinton Rod & Gun, Elks Club and Masons Seneca Lodge 55 in Torrington.

He is survived by two sons, Remy Misani and his wife Darlene of Torrington, Peter J. Misani Sr., and his wife Debbie of Harwinton, and one daughter Laura Girolimon and her husband Tom of Torrington. He also leaves his six grandsons- Remy Misani Jr., Peter J. Misani Jr., Jeffery Misani, Ryan Misani, Justin and Eric Girolimon, three great-grandchildren; Hailey Misani, Logan Misani, and Emma Rose Misani; his sister, Elizabeth Clinton of Goshen as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, he was pre-deceased in death by his brother, Renato Misani.

He enjoyed traveling to Switzerland to visit his cousins and was very proud of his Swiss heritage. He also enjoyed taking long car rides through the Northeast with his wife Doris, their vacations to Lake George, Saratoga, Cape Cod and traveling to Florida and spending time with his family which brought him great joy.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington, CT for Services at 11:00 a.m.   Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
