Nunzia "Maria" Giambersio

Nunzia "Maria" Giambersio, 83, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Friday, December 20, 2019, at Valerie Manor. 

Born in Ginestra Potenza, Italy on March 24, 1936, Maria was the daughter of the late Luigi and Maddalena (Gentile) Giambersio.  She was employed by Timex in the Assembly Department until her retirement.  Maria lovingly and tirelessly cared for her parents, her sisters, and her brother. Maria was also fiercely devoted to her friends and her many godchildren, whom she loved as if they were her own. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and especially visiting the casino on almost a monthly basis.   She was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and a communicant of St. Peter Church. Maria was loved by all who were an important part of her life and she is an example of someone who is loyal and dedicated to family and friends.

She is survived by one brother, Donato Giambersio of Torrington, CT; one sister, Pasqualina Maulla of Italy; two nephews, Antonio Maulla, Marcello Maulla; one grandniece, Frederica Maulla as well as several godchildren.  She was preceded in death by one sister, Carolina Giambersio.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019, with the cortege leaving at 12:30 p.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m.   Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
