Mary (Kufchak) Poll

Our beloved mother, Mary (Kufchak) Poll, 80, of Torrington, passed away on May 26, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully surrounded by family and friends.  

Mary was born September 15, 1937, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Nicholas and Edna (Vogellus) Kufchak.  She is survived by her three devoted daughters and their husbands; Christine & Michael Johnson of Kissimmee FL; Denise & Mark Silva of Naugatuck; and Marguerite Poll of Torrington. She is also survived by her two sisters Hallie Connole of Ohio, Barbara Samele & her husband Paul of Torrington; sister-in-law Mary Kufchak of Torrington, and many nieces and nephews.  Mary is pre-deceased by her two dear brothers Raymond Kufchak and Nicholas Kufchak.

Mary was devoted and selfless in her love and care for her daughters.  Her strength and fortitude during challenging times set an example for others. She had a sparkling personality and her sense of humor and joy would light up a room.  Mary loved music and love to SING!   She always had a song that gave her strength and brought joy to those who were with her.  A God-fearing woman of faith she was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. 

She had many friends and coworkers over the years from Fitzgerald’s Gasket Company, Charter Oak Home Care Services, and the Bank of Boston.  She also leaves behind her devoted friend and neighbor, Curtis Exum.

Please join us as we celebrate and remember the life of Mary Poll on Friday, June 1, 2018. Calling hours will be held at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Immediately followed by a Mass at 12 noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main Street, Torrington, CT.   Following the Mass she will be buried at New St Francis Cemetery, 863 S.
