Marie Indomenico Obituary

Mrs. Marie (Gioia) Indomenico, 91, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, October 11, 2019.  Marie was born in West Hartford, CT, and moved to Torrington in her early years.  She attended Torrington High School, where she met her lifelong soul mate, Carmel.  They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary earlier this year.  Marie was an employee of the Torrington Company, a licensed stockbroker, and the “oil that made the engine run” of Carmine’s Garage.  Her passion was being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.

Marie is survived by her husband, Carmel, her brother, Donald Cooper, her four children; John Indomenico and his partner Dawn Schile, Joy Indomenico Eck, Josephine Bugryn and her partner Terry Witt, and Chris Downs; her five grandchildren, Jason Indomenico and his wife Catherine, their two children, Eli and Leo, Tracy McKaveney and her husband Chris and their two children Aidan and Liam, Sara Morison and her husband Rob, Josh Bugryn, and Andrew Bugryn.  She loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life.  She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Calvert Eck.

Marie was always thinking about everyone else before herself.  She and Carm had a close circle of friends which was their extended family.  There are so many memories of birthday parties, beach days, nights out dancing, and picnics with Seg & Rose, Sam & Mary, Lena & Midge, Mike & Dolly, and so many others.  We will be forever grateful for the memories made with “the gang”.

We are also grateful for the wonderful, devoted caregivers who took such incredible care of Marie for the last few years.  They all made her laugh each day and kept her going during some difficult days.

We will all miss Marie, her heart of gold, her selflessness, her infectious smile and warm, loving personality that lit up a room.  We will miss seeing her and Carm dancing in the kitchen.  We will miss her strength and perseverance – for throughout all the adversity in her life, she maintained a positive attitude and total enjoyment of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT.   Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.  Burial will follow at St. Francis (old) Cemetery, Willow St., Torrington.   Calling hour will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
