Delia (Iacovetta) Melaragno

Delia (Iacovetta) Melaragno, 91, of Torrington, CT, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Melaragno. 

Delia was born March 31, 1927, in Italy, daughter of the late Solomone and Bambina (Lombardi) Iacovetta.  She was a communicant of St. Peter Church, and a member of the Holy Rosary Society.  A devoted mother to her children, she enjoyed crocheting, and made many blankets & throws for her grandchildren.  She loved to plant her vegetable garden, baked the best homemade bread, enjoyed cooking for her family, and prayed daily.

She is survived by three sons, Mario Melaragno and his wife Antonietta, Edoardo Melaragno and his wife Patricia, Alduino Melaragno and his wife Debbie, all of Torrington, CT; one daughter, Luisa Melaragno and her husband Natale, of Toronto, Canada;  two brothers, Msgr. Antonio Iacovetta, Salvatore Iacovetta, both of Italy; one sister, Rosina Melaragno of Torrington, CT; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Domenico Iacovetta and one sister, Lucia Iacovetta and one great grandchild, Alexander.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.
