Robert "Bob" J. Summa

Robert J. Summa, 82, of Canton, CT, and of Vero Beach, FL, died on Monday, May 22, 2017, in Vero Beach, FL with his wife and sons by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maryanne (Carbone) Summa for 60 years.

Bob was born May 9, 1935, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Joseph Summa & Madeline (Fischetti) Summa. He was a graduate of the Torrington High School Class of 1952, the University of Connecticut, Pharmacy, Class of 1956, and received his MBA from the University of Hartford, Class of 1971.

Bob worked for The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for 42 years, starting as their chief pharmacist in 1958. He held several positions throughout his employment, including President and Executive Director.

Bob was a member of the Torrington Housing Authority Past Chairman, Past President of Torrington UNICO, Past Director of First Federal Bank of Torrington and of The Torrington Country Club. He was a past member of Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Rotary Club, Concordia Lodge, and Sons of Italy. He currently was a Corporator of The Brooker Memorial. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert E. and Maria (LaMonica) Summa, of New Hartford, Michael V. and Julie (Reichenbaugh) Summa of Armonk, NY; grandchildren Daniella Summa of Farmington, CT, John Summa, of New Hartford, Stephanie Summa and Joseph Summa of Armonk, NY; brother and sister-in-law: Dr. John and Barbara Carbone Salius of Somers, CT, and nieces Dr. Kathy Salius of Stamford, CT and Sherri Yarrows and her husband Brian of Somers, CT. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
