Michael P. Vinisko

March 29, 1936 ~ August 22, 2015 (age 79) 79 Years Old


Michael P. (Mickey) Vinisko, 79, of Torrington, CT, passed away at Valerie Manor on Saturday, August, 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of his beloved wife Jackolyn (Rylander) Vinisko for 60 years. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 29, 1936, he was a son of the late Michael P. and Anna (Picone) Vinisko.  He was a graduate of the Torrington High School Class of 1954.  Along with his brother Jim, he was the co-owner of Torcon Direct Mail and Printing Service until he took a position as the Data Processing Manager with the Ducci Electric Company where he remained until his retirement.  Mickey also was the former proprietor of Ed’s Package Store in Torrington.  He was a lifelong member of the BPOE Elks #372, the Vatican Athletic Club, the Germania Society, and the Forresters Club.

He was an avid Dodger fan who enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, and playing cards.  In addition to his family and friends, Mickey loved a good party, a good cigar, all things Vegas, Sinatra and Elvis.

In addition to his wife Jackie, he leaves his children, Kim Vinisko  McLeod of Torrington, Valerie Vinisko of Sunnyvale, CA, Michael  Vinisko of Los Angeles, CA, Michele McNamara and her husband Billy of Pleasant Valley, CT, and Mark Vinisko and his wife Lisa (Musselman) of Torrington.  He also leaves his grandchildren Kari McLeod, Kristin McLeod, Daniel McLeod, Corey Vinisko, Jessica Middlebrook, Baylee Vinisko and Jason Vinisko.  He also leaves his special great granddaughter Stella Plavcan, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved brother Jim and his son Matthew. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of the Meadowview Unit at Valerie Manor for their compassionate care during Mickey’s stay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington with burial following at St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington.  Friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.  Relatives and friends may call at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org_join_the_cause or to St. Peter Church, c/o The Pastoral Center, 160 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790.  Condolences may be sent to the Vinisko family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
