Joan E. (Richardson) Marchetti

Joan E. (Richardson) Marchetti, 77, of Torrington, CT, died peacefully in the company of her family and friends on Monday, February 6, 2017.  She was the wife of the late Dante Marchetti.

Joan was born April 20, 1939, in Torrington, CT, and was predeceased by her father Robert John Richardson, Sr., her mother, Lavinia (Dougal) Patrick, and her step-father, Joseph P. Patrick, and her siblings, Samuel Clark Richardson, Ruth M. Grech, George R. Richardson, Joseph C. Richardson, and John A. Richardson.

Joan attended Torrington High School, and became a longtime employee of The Torrington Company, as an Inspector, retiring after over 30 years.  She also was the co-owner and operator of the Flower Boutique in Torrington for several years.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, cake decorating, floral arranging, and spending time with her family.  Joan was a very generous person, always giving of her time and resources to those less fortunate.

She is survived by her siblings, James T. Richardson of Winston Salem, NC, Thomas E. Richardson of Harwinton, CT, Shirley A. Fodor of Harwinton, CT, Peggy M. Gutowski of Winchester, CT, Robert J. Richardson of Torrington, CT, Chester C. Richardson of Torrington, CT, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, Abby her beloved pet, and her close friend, Gilbert Thibodeau.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Handleman, Dr. Debra Brandt, the staff of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Valerie Manor short term rehab.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.
