Frederick "Rick" P. Hart

Frederick “Rick” P. Hart, 65, of Torrington, CT, passed away, Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Katherine Hart for 35 years.

Born on May 24, 1952, in Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frederick and Rita (Deimody) Hart.  He was employed by DMR with the state of CT.

Rick was very proud of his Irish heritage and met the love of his life at an Irish Pub in N.Y. on St. Patrick’s Day.  “A Gentle Giant,” he was always smiling and welcoming to everyone.  Rick loved and valued his family and wouldn’t trade his two daughters and three granddaughters, whom he was “Proud Poppa" to, for anything in the world.  He was also an avid Yankee fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Hart (Ziggy Rylander) of Torrington and Megan Nelson (Jordan) of Torrington; three granddaughters, Gracelyn Nelson, Aubrey Nelson and Cecilia Rylander; one brother, John Hart of Torrington as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington.  Burial will be private.  Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Francis Church.  Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
